Ingredients
The main ingredient of this medication is Levothyroxine Sodium, with a chemical name of O-(4-hydroxy-3,5-diiodophenyl)-3,5-diiodo-L-tyrosine monosodium salt.

Indications
Levothyroxine Sodium Tablets are prescribed for the treatment of hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid) and as a replacement or supplemental therapy in certain conditions such as thyroid cancer treatment and prevention of thyroid goiter recurrence.

Dosage and Administration:

• It should be taken once daily, preferably on an empty stomach, at least 30 minutes before breakfast.
• The initial dosage may vary depending on the patient's condition and should be adjusted according to the doctor's instructions.
• For children and elderly patients, as well as those with coronary heart disease or severe hypothyroidism, a lower starting dose is recommended, with gradual dose increases over time.

Contraindications:

• It is contraindicated in patients with hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid) caused by various reasons.
• It should not be used in combination with antithyroid drugs during pregnancy to treat hyperthyroidism.

Precautions:

• Patients with coronary heart disease, heart failure, or rapid heart arrhythmias should be monitored closely for the development of mild thyrotoxicosis.
• For patients with secondary hypothyroidism, the cause should be determined before starting treatment, and glucocorticoid supplementation may be necessary.
• Postmenopausal women with hypothyroidism and increased risk of osteoporosis should avoid supraphysiological serum levels of levothyroxine.

Drug Interactions:

• Levothyroxine may enhance the effect of anticoagulants and reduce the effectiveness of hypoglycemic agents.
• Concurrent use of cholestyramine may inhibit the absorption of levothyroxine, and a 4-5 hour interval between the two drugs is recommended.

Storage: Store at a temperature below 25°C in a dry place.

Special Populations:

• During pregnancy and lactation, continued treatment with thyroid hormones may be necessary, and dosage adjustments may be required.
• Patients with genetic conditions such as galactose intolerance, Lapp lactase deficiency, or glucose-galactose malabsorption should not take this medication due to its lactose content.

Pharmacological Action
Levothyroxine, a synthetic thyroid hormone, is identical to the thyroid hormone naturally secreted by the thyroid gland. It is converted to T3 in peripheral organs and exerts its specific effects by binding to T3 receptors.
