Shexiang Baoxin Wan (Saffron Heart-Protecting Pill)

Ingredients
Artificial musk, ginseng extract, artificial bezoar, cinnamon, styrax, toad venom, borneol.

Properties
This medicine is presented as black-brown, glossy water pills. When crushed, the cross-section appears tan in color; it tastes bitter, pungent, and cool, with a tingling sensation on the tongue.

Functions and Indications
Aromatic and warming, benefiting qi and strengthening the heart. It is used for chest pain (thoracic obstruction) caused by qi stagnation and blood stasis, manifested as fixed, unshifting pain in the precordial region; and for angina pectoris and myocardial infarction caused by myocardial ischemia with the above symptoms.

Dosage and Administration
Oral administration. 1 to 2 pills each time, 3 times a day; or take when symptoms occur.

Adverse Reactions
Occasionally, there may be a tingling sensation on the tongue when taken sublingually.

Contraindications
Pregnant women and those allergic to this medicine are prohibited from using it.
