Compound Ketoconazole Cream

Ingredients
This product is a compound preparation, containing 10 mg of ketoconazole and 0.5 mg of clobetasol propionate per gram. The excipients include stearic acid, liquid paraffin, glycerin, cetostearyl alcohol, emulsifier OP, disodium edetate, 2,6-di-tert-butyl-p-cresol, anhydrous sodium sulfite, vitamin E, laurocapram, Germall plus (preservative), natural moisturizing factor, fragrance, and ethanol.

Characteristics
This product is a white or almost white cream with an emulsion base.

Indications
For the treatment of tinea corporis, tinea manus and pedis (hand and foot fungi), and tinea cruris.

Dosage and Administration
For external use only. Apply directly to the affected area twice a day.

Adverse Reactions

1. Local allergic reactions may occasionally occur, such as skin burning sensation, itching, and tingling.
2. Long-term use may lead to skin atrophy, telangiectasia, hyperpigmentation, and secondary infection.

Contraindications

1. Prohibited in viral infections such as herpes and chickenpox.
2. Prohibited in pregnant and lactating women.

Precautions

1. Avoid contact with eyes and other mucous membranes (such as mouth and nose).
2. If burning sensation, redness, or other discomfort occurs at the application site, discontinue use, wash off the medication, and consult a physician if necessary.
3. Do not use over large areas of skin for extended periods.
4. Continuous use should not exceed 4 weeks. For skin areas with thin dermis such as the face, axillae, groin, and external genitalia, continuous use should not exceed 2 weeks. Consult a physician if symptoms do not improve.
5. Use with caution in infants and children.
6. Prohibited in individuals with a history of allergy to this product. Use with caution in individuals with allergic constitution.
7. Do not use if the product's characteristics have changed.
8. Keep this product out of reach of children.
9. Children must use this product under adult supervision.

Pharmacological Effects
Ketoconazole belongs to the pyrazole class of antifungal agents. It has inhibitory and bactericidal effects on dermatophytes, yeasts (Candida species, Malassezia species, Trichosporon species, Cryptococcus species), dimorphic fungi, and fungi of the Ascomycota class. It has weaker effects on Aspergillus species, Scopulariopsis brevicaulis, certain members of the Dematiaceae, and Mucor species. The mechanism of action of ketoconazole is primarily to highly selectively interfere with the activity of fungal cytochrome P-450, thereby inhibiting the biosynthesis of ergosterol in fungal cell membranes. Clobetasol propionate is a potent topical corticosteroid. It acts rapidly with strong vasoconstrictive effects. Its anti-inflammatory effect is 112.5 times that of hydrocortisone, 2.3 times that of betamethasone sodium phosphate, and 18.7 times that of fluocinonide. Neomycin sulfate belongs to the aminoglycoside class of antibiotics and can be used topically to treat local infections.
