Medication Name
Halometasone Cream (Lumisong Rugao)
Ingredients
Halometasone monohydrate. Chemical Name: 6α,11β,16α-2-Chloro-6,9-difluoro-11,17,21-trihydroxy-16-methylpregna-1,4-diene-3,20-dione monohydrate. Molecular Weight: C22H27ClF2O5·H2O
Physical Characteristics
This product is a white cream with an emulsion base.
Indications
For the treatment of non-infectious inflammatory skin diseases responsive to corticosteroid therapy. Such as seborrheic dermatitis, contact dermatitis, atopic dermatitis, localized neurodermatitis, nummular eczema, and psoriasis vulgaris.
Dosage and Administration
Apply a thin layer to the affected area and gently rub in. Depending on the symptoms, apply once or twice daily. If necessary, the affected area can be bandaged with porous gauze, but usually, sealing is not required. For patients with poor therapeutic response or more stubborn conditions, short-term sealed bandaging can be used to enhance efficacy. For chronic skin conditions (such as psoriasis or chronic eczema), abrupt discontinuation of this product should be avoided. Instead, switch to a moisturizer or a corticosteroid with weaker efficacy, gradually reducing the dosage of this product.
Adverse Reactions
Occasionally: Irritating symptoms at the application site, such as burning sensation and itching. Rarely: Dry skin, erythema, skin atrophy, folliculitis, acne, or pustules. If severe irritation or allergic symptoms occur, discontinue treatment.
Reported adverse reactions with topical use include: Contact allergy, skin hyperpigmentation, or secondary infection. Additionally, especially with long-term use, application to large skin areas, use with sealed bandaging, or application to skin areas with high permeability such as the face and axillae, atrophic striae, atrophic changes, bleeding, perioral dermatitis or rosacea-like dermatitis, telangiectasia, purpura, or steroid acne may occur. When applied topically in large amounts or with sealed bandaging (especially in newborns or infants), corticosteroids can enter the bloodstream and produce systemic effects (especially temporary suppression of adrenal function). These effects disappear after discontinuing the product, but abrupt discontinuation may be followed by acute adrenal insufficiency.
Contraindications
- Individuals allergic to any component of this product.
- Bacterial and viral skin diseases (such as chickenpox, pyoderma, post-vaccination, herpes simplex, herpes zoster), fungal skin diseases, syphilitic skin lesions, tuberculous skin diseases, rosacea, perioral dermatitis, and acne vulgaris.
Precautions
Regardless of age, long-term continuous use should be avoided, and sealed bandaging should be limited to short-term and small skin areas.
If special circumstances require large doses of this product, application to large skin areas, use with sealed bandaging, or long-term use, regular medical examinations should be conducted on the patient.
This product should be used with caution on the face or intertriginous areas (such as the axillary region) and only for short-term use. Systemic adverse reactions, such as effects on adrenal cortical function, have not been reported. However, based on medical theory, such risks cannot be ruled out.
When using this product under certain conditions, such as sealed bandaging on large skin areas (especially in pediatrics), if infection occurs at the application site, appropriate antibacterial therapy should be initiated immediately.
This product should not come into contact with the conjunctiva or mucosa. Corticosteroids can mask skin allergic reactions caused by certain components in this product.
Patients should be advised that this medication is only for their current skin condition and should not be given to others. Please read the instructions carefully and use as directed by a physician.
