Ingredients
Astragalus membranaceus (Huangqi), Hirudo (Shuizhi), Ligusticum chuanxiong (Chuanxiong), Angelica sinensis (Danggui), Carthamus tinctorius (Honghua), Prunus persica (Taoren), Paeonia veitchii (Chishao), Aucklandia lappa (Muxiang), Acorus tatarinowii (Shichangpu), Lumbricus (Dilong), Taxillus chinensis (Sangjisheng), Acanthopanax senticosus extract (Ciwujia extract).

Characteristics
This product is a capsule formulation. The contents are yellow-brown to brown-brown powder; slightly fishy odor and slightly bitter taste.

Indications
Tonifying qi, promoting blood circulation, dispelling blood stasis, and dredging collaterals. Used for the recovery stage of atherosclerotic cerebral infarction in patients with TCM syndrome differentiation of qi deficiency and blood stasis type stroke affecting the meridians, presenting symptoms such as hemiplegia, unilateral numbness, corner deviation of the mouth, and difficulty in speech.

Specification
0.4g per capsule.

Dosage and Administration
Oral administration. 5 capsules each time, 3 times daily. Treatment course: 4 weeks.

Adverse Reactions
Possible adverse reactions include dizziness, headache, nausea, vomiting, rash, pruritus, gastric discomfort, fatigue, edema, palpitations, etc.

Contraindications

  1. Contraindicated in pregnant women.
  2. Contraindicated in patients with cerebral hemorrhage due to strong blood-activating effects.
  3. Contraindicated in patients allergic to this product or its ingredients.

Precautions

  1. Avoid spicy food during medication.
  2. Use with caution in patients with bleeding tendencies, menstruating women, or those undergoing anticoagulant/antiplatelet therapy.
  3. Use with caution in patients with allergic constitution.
  4. Not to be used concurrently with Aconitum species (Lilu).
  5. After opening the moisture-proof packaging, use as directed by a physician promptly. Do not use if the product's characteristics change.

Clinical Trials
This product was approved by the National Medical Products Administration in October 1997 for a 300-patient clinical trial.

Pharmacology and Toxicology
Animal experimental results indicate that this product can reduce whole blood and plasma viscosity, hematocrit, inhibit platelet aggregation and thrombosis in rats and rabbits, prolong plasma recalcification time and bleeding time in mice, increase cerebral blood flow in dogs, reduce cerebrovascular resistance, and improve motor function and cerebral edema in experimental cerebral thrombosis rats.
