Drug Name
Bactroban Mupirocin Ointment

Ingredients
Each gram of this product contains 20 milligrams of the active ingredient mupirocin. The excipients include polyethylene glycol 400 and polyethylene glycol 3350.

Appearance
This product is a whiteish, hydrophilic ointment.

Indications
This product is a topical antibiotic for the treatment of skin infections caused by Gram-positive cocci, including primary skin infections such as impetigo, folliculitis, and carbuncles, as well as secondary skin infections such as infected eczema, infected ulcers, and infected wounds.

Dosage
This product is for external use only. Apply the ointment topically to the affected area. If necessary, the affected area can be bandaged or covered. Use three times daily, with a course of treatment lasting five days. If necessary, the course can be repeated.

Adverse Reactions
Local application of this product generally does not cause adverse reactions, but occasional local burning sensations, tingling, and itching may occur. These symptoms usually do not require discontinuation of the drug. Rarely, skin allergic reactions to mupirocin or the ointment base may occur. There have been reports of systemic allergic reactions caused by Mupirocin Ointment, but they are very rare.

Contraindications
This product is contraindicated in individuals who are allergic to mupirocin or polyethylene glycol-containing ointments.

Precautions
1. If symptoms do not improve or worsen after one course of treatment, seek medical attention immediately.
2. For large areas of infection, seek medical treatment.
3. This product is for dermal application only; avoid use in the eyes, nose, mouth, or other mucous membrane areas.
4. If it gets into the eyes, rinse immediately with water.

6. Pregnant women should use with caution; lactating women should prevent the drug from entering the baby's eyes. If applied to the nipple area, thoroughly wash before breastfeeding.
