Fusidic Acid Cream

Ingredients
The main component of this product is fusidic acid. Chemical name: trans-16α-carboxy-3β,11β-dihydroxy-4β,8β,14α-trimethyl-18-nor-5β,10α-cholest- (17Z)-17(20),24-diene-21-acid hemihydrate.

Appearance
This product is a white ointment with a cream-based formula.

Indications
This product is used to treat skin infections caused by Staphylococcus, Streptococcus, Propionibacterium acnes, Corynebacterium minutissimum, and other bacteria sensitive to fusidic acid. Main indications include: impetigo, furuncles, carbuncles, paronychia, traumatic infections, sycosis barbae, hidradenitis suppurativa, erythrasma, folliculitis, acne vulgaris. This product is suitable for infections on the face and head without compromising appearance.

Dosage
Apply 2-3 times daily to the affected area. The usual course of treatment is 7 days. For the treatment of acne, the course may be extended as needed.

Adverse Reactions
Local application of this product generally has no adverse reactions. Occasionally, there may be mild irritation. Treatment of deep leg ulcers may be accompanied by pain, but usually, discontinuation of the drug is not required. Allergic reactions are rare.

Contraindications
This product is contraindicated in patients with allergies to any of its components.

Precautions
Fusidic acid is irritating to the conjunctiva of the eyes; avoid using it around the eyes.
When treating severe skin infections or persistent skin diseases, systemic antibiotic therapy should be used as an adjunct.
If severe irritation or allergic reactions occur, discontinue use and switch to other appropriate medications. Please read the instructions carefully and use as directed by a physician.

Special Populations
Children: No contraindications for use in children have been reported.
Pregnancy and Lactation: The safety of use in pregnant and lactating women is not clearly established. Experiments have shown that fusidic acid can cross the placental barrier and be excreted in breast milk. Pregnant and lactating women should use it with caution.
Elder: No contraindications for use in the elderly have been reported.

Pharmacological Action
Fusidic acid is highly sensitive to various Gram-positive cocci associated with skin infections, especially Staphylococcus aureus. It is also effective against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus and has certain antibacterial effects on some Gram-negative bacteria. It has no cross-resistance with other antibiotics.
